Lawyer ask EC to avail him with Museveni’s academic documents: Lawyer ask EC to avail him with Museveni’s academic documents:
City lawyer has petitioned the Electoral Commission to avail the academic documents for President Museveni. Muwada wrote a letter to the EC on August 21-2020.
Surprisingly, Muwada says he wants the election body to avail him with Museveni’s academic documents. He continues saying what did Museveni use to stand for the 2016 presidential elections.
However, Under the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda 1995 as amended. The Presidential Elections Act,2005 as amended and other statutory provision. Its trite is that the nominee as a presidential candidate must hold and possess the minimum statutory and formal academic qualifications and or equivalent to Advanced level standard, Lawyer says.

The lawyer notes that initially, Museveni ascended to power without vetting him when the NRA captured power in 1986. Adding that having been president since then the election body has never asked his academic documents.
“Being that he still remain the appointing authority, of those to vet his papers. But it is uncertain to me as a Ugandan that the said candidate has ever complied. The recent abrupt resignation of the EC and other key commission staff came as a dismissal in the media. But further more widens my doubts,”Muwada says.
More so the lawyer also argues that he is doing this by the need to defend Constitutionalism. And rule of law by demanding for Museveni’s academic documents.
“Pursuant to the Access to Information Act, I now herein request for copies of certified academic documents as presented to the EC. While at 2016 presidential elections by candidate YK Museveni. Which I will make an informed opinion on the next course of action.”
The development comes at a time when another lawyer, Male Mabirizi did the same. Mabirizi requested and was availed with the academic documents for Kyadondo East MP also presidential aspirant Bobi Wine.
Consequently, Mabirizi says Kyagulanyi is not fit to stand for presidency for telling lies about his age.
