UPDF in Moroto is on a hunt of 219 prisoners who escaped from Moroto prison. Shockingly, the 219 prisoners escaped on Wednesday afternoon with 15 guns which has put the security and locals on pressure.

In their yellow uniform, the prisoners used a chance of the forest near Moroto prison. They took off through the forest at mountain Moroto.

This is not the first incident happening in Moroto. In 2006 prisoners from the same prison tried to escape but it was not successful.

It did not stop from there and in 2008 11 prisoners escaped from the same prison in Moroto. However, their deal was stepped in by security personnel and 8 of them were shot dead.

But, this time the number of escapees is big 219 of them. And on top of that they are armed with 15 guns which is scaring the security. Sources say that most of these escapees are cattle wrestlers from neighboring areas.

Moroto town residents are in fear after being told that 30 of escapees have corona virus. The fear is that they will infect the residents with the virus. Also the residents fear because the motive of the escapees with guns is not yet known.

But the ministry of health and security in Moroto have urged the locals to be so vigilant and alert them in case of any new person in the area.

Also in fear is the UN offices where gun shots were flying. This was during the exchange of gun shots between the security and the escapees.

The prisons spokesperson Mr. Frank Baine confirmed the prison break. However he says three were killed during the pursuit whereas seven have been re-arrested and returned to prison. But the search is ongoing and for any information we shall be informing the public, Baine notes.

This is a delicate situation for such a big number of prisoners to escape with guns. Because their motive is not yet known, one area resident says. In a comic way he says that these prisoners should have been watching clips of prison break. Let us wait for season two as Michael Scofield and the group to be brought back by UPDF, he adds.

But the question remains how, where did the prisoners get those guns, and what is the aim of taking the guns?
